Texting Record Attempt Racks Up $26K Phone Bill
Two Pennsylvania pals, 29-year-old Nick Andes and 30-year-old Doug Klinger, have just been charged $26,000 on a phone bill in an attempt to set a text-messaging record.
After 217,000 text messages and a whopping $26,000 phone bill, the two guys have seemingly succeeded in setting a monthly text-messaging record, although whether it will be recognized or not is still up in the air.
Nick and Doug were surprised by their phone bill because they were relying on their “unlimited texting’ plan – and T-Mobile is reportedly investigating the charges.
So after sending thousands of ‘LOL’s and ‘Hello’s, the two guys managed to total their messages to 217,000 for the month: “Most were either short phrases or one word, ‘LOL’ or ‘Hello,’ things like that, with tons and tons of repeats,” said Nick during a phone interview.
Guinness World Records has not yet responded to the pair’s record-setting attempt. Some are complaining that the men were wasteful of company and consumer money by attempting such a ridiculous record. Others found the attempt humorous.
